RDM designs and manufactures Towsteps for a wide range of commercial and 4x4 vehicles up to 3.5 tonne GVW. Towsteps can be fixed or folding in design and we also have a range of side steps.
(Not suitable for vehicles fitted with factory fit rear steps or pick up variants.)
The lightweight aluminium tread plate is housed on a steel support frame providing strength and rigidity whilst minimising the contribution to the overall weight of the vehicle.
APPROVALS
The RDM Towstep is tested and type approved in accordance with the 94/20 EEC Mechanical Couplings Directive. This consists of a rigorous 2 million cycle fatigue test based on the Gross Vehicle Weight and the Maximum Towing Capacity of the vehicle.
FINISH
The raised surface tread and multiple drainage holes provide excellent grip in all weather conditions allowing mud and ice to clear naturally. Both the support frame and tread plate are finished in a durable powder coat finish.
Reverse sensors are also a popular option, especially within the Utility sectors where issues relating to the control of road risks are paramount. The fitment of sensors assists the driver whilst reducing the risks of injury and property damage. They are shown here installed to the Towstep for the utility sectors where issues relating to Health and Safety are a major concern. This kit comprises four rear sensors and a both visual and an audible "dash mounted" display thus warning the driver and providing actual distance detected from any given obstacles.
INSTALLATION
All RDM Towsteps utilise the vehicle manufacturer's recommended fixing points, a mandatory requirement of a "type approved" product. As such the fixing points are generally existing in the chassis.
TOWBALL DESIGNS
The RDM Towstep is compatible for use with a variety of couplings, all of which are available as a "one stop shop" solution.
